The combined British, Hanoverian, Prussian and Dutch-Belgian force of the Seventh Coalition decisively defeated Napoleon and his loyal generals, ending the emperor's rule forever and leading to his exile on the Atlantic island of St. The Battle of Waterloo (18 June, 1815) proved to be Napoleon's last action. Although victory was achieved here Blucher was allowed to escape, something which very soon proved to be a fatal mistake. The Battle of Ligny (16 June, 1815) effectively determined the outcome of Napoleon's 100 day return to power. The Sixth Coalition were taken by surprise, resulting in the infliction of a heavy defeat upon them. The Battle of Dresden (26-27 August, 1813) during which Napoleon reversed the predicted outcome by arriving with reinforcements to bolster the city's defences. Borodino would be the bloodiest battle of the Russian campaign for both sides, paving the way for Napoleon's subsequent march on Moscow. The Battle of Borodino (7 September, 1812) saw Napoleon force a close defeat upon the determined Russian defenders. The Battle of Austerlitz (2 December, 1805) in which Napoleon masterminded his greatest ever victory by defeating the combined armies of Austria and Russia on the vast Pratzen Heights. The Battle of the Pyramids (21 July, 1798) where Napoleon deployed his lethal divisional squares in the shadow of the Great Pyramids at Giza, defeating the fearless Mameluke cavalry force. By seizing the bridge the French prevented the escape of the Austrians, and therefore their planned relief of the siege at Mantua. The Battle of Arcole (15-17 November, 1796) during which Napoleon successfully outflanked the Austrian army and carried the Tricolour across the Alpone river in person. The nickname "the little corporal" remained with him throughout his early campaigns against Austria. ![]() However line infantry in NTW is too weak for me to really enjoy the battles. The Battle of Lodi (10 May, 1796) although not a decisive meeting, this was where Napoleon first made a name for himself and got a glimpse of his destiny. I do like how riflemen were very different from regular light infantry instead of riflemen just being light infantry with longer range. All your infantry are glorified milita in battle your best troops fight the exact same way as your milita. No point in liberating anyone either because it is much worth it to keep the region for tax money.įor battles they do look nicer in NTW but they are some problems. The new diplomacy features are pointless because the lines are already drawn, and the new options when conquring a city are pretty pointless aswell, plundering cities is never worth it because the money you get is one time only so you can't invest in your armies and odds are your gonna use alot of it to fix up the region. ![]() NTW did add alot of new features but alot of them are pointless. Navies are also rather pointless in the campagin. But the tech tree is pretty much worthless, there is less factions and the main campagin is either you fighting napoleon or being him. Napoleon looks better, runs better, has alot less glitches. More factions, a much better tech tree, more factions and they all play differently in the campagin, bigger campagin map, and overall better battle mechanics (NTW looks ALOT nicer though).
